At least two people have lost their lives this Monday in a new wave of Russian attacks against the Sumi region, in northeastern Ukraine. These bombings are part of the series of offensives that this oblast has been suffering in recent weeks, in parallel to the attacks registered in Kiev and other areas of the country.

"Two civilians have died today as a result of Russian attacks in the districts of Sumi and Okhtyrka, in the Sumi region," the regional governor, Oleg Grigorov, reported on social media.

In the Okhtyrka district, the attack occurred in the town of Velika Pisarivka, located next to the border with the Russian region of Belgorod. There, the governor explained, "a Russian drone impacted a civilian home." "The owner has died," he stressed, before specifying that "the man would have turned 58 tomorrow (Tuesday)."

In addition, a second man, aged 65, died while he was in a home in the town of Stetskivska, in the Sumi district, after the impact of "a Russian drone" against the residential building. "Gravely injured," the individual "was admitted to the hospital, but, unfortunately, he died there," the regional leader stated.

These new attacks come after a weekend already marked by intense bombings on the region, which caused the deaths of at least four civilians and left 33 other people injured.

Simultaneously, in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, authorities have continued to update upwards the toll of the latest Russian offensive registered on Sunday night and early Monday morning, which has caused at least 18 deaths and nearly 60 injuries. Faced with this situation, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, denounced this Monday "the insufficient supply of interceptors" to the country after the new "massive attack" launched by the Russian Army against the capital.

TWO INJURED AND POWER AND WATER OUTAGES IN BELGOROD, RUSSIA

On the other side of the border, in the Russian region of Belgorod, contiguous to Sumi, a Ukrainian attack has hit "civilian infrastructure" and, although it has not caused fatalities, it has left three injured in the town of Belovskoye, as indicated on social media by the acting governor, Alexander Shuvaev.

"Also in the district, in the town of Pushkarnoye, a fire has occurred in an outbuilding; emergency services are working to extinguish it," he added, before reporting another fire in a building in the city of Belgorod itself, where firefighters are deployed to put it out.

Shuvaev also warned that "the energy infrastructure has suffered damage again, which has caused power and water outages in some areas of Belgorod and in several municipalities."

"Emergency services are doing everything possible to quickly remedy the consequences of the terrorist attack perpetrated by the Kiev regime," he added.
