At least two people have been injured this Wednesday in an attack against a synagogue in the Golders Green neighborhood, in north London (United Kingdom), according to the Jewish emergency NGO Shomrim.

The organization has stated in a statement released on social media that the incident occurred in the northwest of the city and that, initially after the attack, the main suspect fled the scene with the weapon in hand.

However, shortly after several members of the organization itself managed to restrain him until the arrival of security forces, who proceeded with his arrest and transfer to the police station. The victims, for their part, are being attended to by units of the Jewish ambulance service Hatzola.

British security forces indicated on Monday that 26 people have already been arrested in the country for allegedly planning attacks against events and businesses linked to the Jewish community, a figure to which the one arrested this Wednesday is added.

This series of arrests began at the end of March as part of several police operations initiated after a series of arson attacks against Jewish targets, such as synagogues, community organizations, and other establishments. For now, the Counter-Terrorism Police are investigating the possible origin of these threats.
