The presidential hopeful for Colombia's Historical Pact, Iván Cepeda, has made public that he will file a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office for an alleged self-attack plan against his opponent in the second round on June 21, Abelardo de la Espriella.

According to Cepeda's account, various sources have warned him of an alleged setup intended to provoke a strong effect on public opinion and alter the outcome of the elections.

"Through different channels, I have been made aware that in Abelardo de la Espriella's campaign, a setup would be being orchestrated to carry out a controlled self-attack of the candidate with the purpose of influencing the final election results," Cepeda explained on social media.

According to his version, the attempt would take place in the days immediately preceding the presidential runoff. Cepeda has indicated that he will forward all the information to the Attorney General's Office so that it may open the corresponding investigations.

Furthermore, he plans to send this data to the National Protection Unit (UNP) so that it may assess whether it is necessary to reinforce the security detail of De la Espriella and his vice-presidential running mate, José Manuel Restrepo.
