The candidate of the far-right party Fuerza Popular, Keiko Fujimori, would have achieved a narrow victory in the second round of the presidential elections in Peru held this Sunday, reaching 50.7% of the votes, according to the first exit polls.
If these preliminary data are confirmed, Fujimori would be ahead of the left-wing candidate of Juntos por el Perú, Roberto Sánchez, to whom the Ipsos study attributes 49.3% of the votes.
Another poll, conducted by Datum, also gives Fujimori the advantage, with 50.53% support compared to 49.47% estimated for Sánchez, reinforcing the idea of an extremely close outcome.
With these results, Fujimori would be in a position to finally reach the Presidency on her fourth attempt, in an electoral context marked by deep citizen disillusionment in a country that has seen ten presidents in the last decade.
