Cuban authorities reported this Monday a new widespread failure of the national electrical system that has left the entire island without power.
"A total disconnection of the National Electro-energy System has occurred. The causes are being investigated. Information will continue to be provided on the matter," the UNE stated through its social media profiles.
In March, Cuba already registered two blackouts that plunged the country into darkness again, after a first "total system disconnection" occurred on September 10.
The Cuban government attributes these recurrent problems to the energy blockade by the United States, which in January warned it would impose tariffs on any country that sells or supplies oil to the island.
