The far-right candidate, Abelardo de la Espriella (49.77%), is ahead of his left-wing contender, Iván Cepeda (48.59%), in the second round of the presidential elections held this Sunday in Colombia. This is reflected in the official data from the Colombian National Registry, which already shows 98.22% of the polling stations counted.
So far, De la Espriella and his running mate, José Manuel Restrepo, have a total of 12,766,679 ballots, while Cepeda and Aida Quilcue have reached 12,464,042 votes, after counting 119,858 out of the 122,020 polling stations enabled in the country.
If these figures are confirmed at the final closing of the count, De la Espriella would win the Presidency of Colombia and would defeat the officialist candidate, Cepeda, who has had the explicit support of the outgoing president, Gustavo Petro.
In the first round, held on May 31, De la Espriella was already the most voted candidate, obtaining 43.74% of the votes compared to the 40.9% obtained by Cepeda.
