The authorities of the Gaza Strip, under the control of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), announced this Monday the dissolution of the body that had been in charge of the administration of the enclave since 2007. This step is part of the preparations for the transfer of powers to the technocratic committee agreed upon in the context of the proposal put forward by United States President Donald Trump regarding the future of Gaza.
According to a statement disseminated on social media by the press office of the Gazan authorities, "during the last stage, the governing bodies in Gaza have taken practical steps and have repeatedly and unequivocally declared their readiness to hand over the reins of governance to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG)".
In the same text, the authorities add: "Today, we not only reiterate this demand and reaffirm our unshakeable and principled position, but we translate it into concrete actions and procedures on the ground, taking decisive strategic steps that practically pave the way to fulfill this national obligation."
The NCAG was created by the Peace Council and, since its establishment, has remained outside the Strip, partly due to Israel's objections to its entry into Gaza, which has so far blocked the effective transfer of powers. In this scenario, Hamas and other Palestinian factions have held meetings in Egypt with mediators with the aim of bringing positions closer and trying to activate the second phase of the agreement signed in October 2025.
