Iranian authorities have denounced two attacks on Thursday night in the counties of Konarak and Bushehr, located respectively opposite the Gulfs of Oman and Persia, and have directly pointed to the United States as responsible for at least one of them, the second.
"At 9:10 p.m. (local time), the Konarak Navy military area was attacked by enemy fighter jets in two phases," reported the governor of Konarak, Mohamad Younes Haqani, in statements collected by Iranian state radio and television, IRIB.
The provincial leader has asked the population to "remain calm, obtain information only through official sources, and refrain from spreading rumors and unconfirmed news," in an attempt to reduce concern among the inhabitants of this area in the south of Sistan and Baluchestan province.
Haqani also explained to the official Iranian agency IRNA that "the responsible agencies, rescue forces, and security forces immediately arrived at the scene of the incident, and an investigation is being carried out to determine the magnitude and details of this attack."
For his part, the deputy governor for policy and security of Bushehr province, Ehsan Yahanian, addressed the reports of an explosion registered in the region and indicated to IRNA that "it is due to the rapid response of air defense."
"The timely response of air defense prevented American enemy drones from carrying out an aerial aggression," he stressed, before also referring to the attacks that occurred in the afternoon, one of them "on the outskirts of the city of Bushehr, where, "so far, no casualties have been reported."
Between Tuesday and Thursday, the United States has carried out several waves of bombings against Iranian territory, which it justifies as a response to Iran's actions against ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran maintains that transit through this strategic passage must be coordinated with its forces until a final peace agreement is reached that ends the conflict opened in the Middle East by the Israeli-American offensive.
In response to these bombings, which have caused at least fourteen deaths and nearly 80 injuries in the last two days, Iran has fired missiles and launched drones against targets linked to the United States in several countries in the region. Both sides accuse each other of violating the terms of the memorandum of understanding signed in June and warn of the risk of the ceasefire agreed on April 8, in which Israel also participates, collapsing.
