Iranian authorities announced this Saturday that two alleged "terrorists" have been killed and that ten other people, linked to four cells considered "takfiris", have been arrested. This term is commonly used in the country to refer to Sunni jihadists.
According to the public broadcaster IRIB, the operation by Iranian security forces took place simultaneously in the towns of Zahedan, Chabahar, Iranshahr, Jash, and Taftan. The Revolutionary Guard, the influential elite military and ideological body of the Iranian regime, also participated in the operation.
"A significant number of light and semi-heavy weapons have been discovered and confiscated in the hideouts and safe houses of these terrorists," state television reported, citing sources from the Ministry of Intelligence.
Among the seized material are a Gurionov machine gun, three Kalashnikov rifles, 17 Colt pistols, 14 grenades, and a Starlink device. "The Ministry of Intelligence has asked the public to report any suspicious incidents," the public media concluded.
