The Central Headquarters of Jatam al Anbiya, one of the main commands of the Iranian Armed Forces, has communicated this Wednesday the "closure" of the Strait of Hormuz "to all types of vessels," including tankers and cargo ships, shortly after the United States Army launched for the second consecutive night a new series of attacks against various points in the Islamic Republic.

"Given the start of the attacks by the aggressor Army of that country -- the United States -- against some regions in the south of Hormozgan province, from this moment on, due to the insecurity in the region, the Strait of Hormuz is declared closed to the traffic of any type of vessel, including tankers and merchant ships, and any type of traffic will be affected," the headquarters announced in a statement reported by the Tasnim news agency, linked to the Revolutionary Guard.

Following this, the same Iranian military command stressed that "any ship" that "attempts to cross" this strategic maritime corridor, which connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman, "will be subject to attacks."

Moments before this announcement, the United States Army Central Command (CENTCOM) had reported new attacks "in self-defense" against various targets in Iranian territory, in response to the bombings launched during the early morning by Iranian forces against U.S. bases and interests located in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait.
