The president of the Iranian Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, has warned this Thursday that the Islamic Republic is prepared to give a "forceful response to the enemy" if, in the context of the preliminary agreement reached between the United States and Iran, "the other party breaks its word" or "oversteps its bounds".

Qalibaf explained that "the task entrusted to us by the Supreme Leader (Mojtaba Jamenei) consists of ensuring compliance with the terms and conditions of the agreement," according to a message disseminated on social media, in which he reiterated that "in the event that the other party breaks its word, commits treason, or oversteps its bounds," they will not hesitate to give a "forceful response to the enemy."

In the same vein, the head of Parliament recalled that, just as "they already received a slap (USA) during the war, if they decide to follow the same path again, they will receive an even stronger slap."

The preliminary agreement was signed on Wednesday night by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the Iranian leader, Masud Pezeshkian. The text establishes a 60-day truce as a framework for negotiating a definitive pact that addresses the Iranian nuclear program, the toll-free reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the creation of a reconstruction fund endowed with 300 billion dollars (about 260 billion euros).

For his part, the US Vice President, JD Vance, has clarified this Thursday that Tehran will only "be able to benefit" from the agreement "if it complies" and modifies its current course.
