The Peruvian far-right presidential candidate, Keiko Fujimori, has won the second round of the presidential elections held on June 21, achieving 50.135% of the votes once 100% of the official count was completed.

With this result, Fujimori surpasses her opponent, the left-wing contender Roberto Sánchez, who obtained 49.865% of the votes, according to the latest bulletin released by the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE).

"The doors of dialogue are open to Roberto Sánchez and all the politicians who participated in this election," Fujimori stated upon learning the final tally. The leader of Fuerza Popular acknowledged the strong polarization in the country and called for "responsibility," as reported by Peruvian media.

"We know that our country is practically divided. We have the duty to listen to both sides," she told the press from the entrance of her home. "We will wait a few days for the proclamation and the delivery of credentials," she added.

The candidate explained that she is already considering some profiles to form the future Executive, although she preferred not to reveal names. However, she set two immediate priorities for the next government: "to restore order in the country and take preventive measures against the El Niño phenomenon."

According to official figures, the difference in favor of Fujimori stands at 49,641 ballots, after the processing of all records, including those reviewed by the Special Electoral Juries (JEE). In total, Fujimori obtained 9,223,369 votes, compared to the 9,173,755 achieved by Sánchez.

The president of the National Jury of Elections (JNE), Roberto Burneo, specified that the definitive proclamation of the results of the presidential runoff will take place, at the latest, on July 3.

After that proclamation, the next step will be the delivery of credentials to the winning presidential ticket. Burneo announced that the ceremony will be held on July 15 at noon at the National Theater. With this protocol ceremony, the JNE will officially recognize the new authorities who will lead the country during the constitutional period 2026-2031.

Burneo has also addressed the fraud allegations raised by opposition sectors and has remarked that no evidence has been found to support them. Likewise, he has insisted that any request for nullity must comply with the requirements set by electoral regulations and be supported by evidence.
