Immediately after, the Bolivian head of state expressed his "respect" for the "democratic will of the Peruvian people," in addition to reaffirming his "commitment to continue strengthening the ties of integration, cooperation, and development" between the two neighboring nations.
For her part, Fujimori thanked the leader's gesture and highlighted Paz's "greeting" to the Peruvian people, while expressing her "certainty" that Lima and La Paz will be able to "work together" to "strengthen bilateral cooperation" and "continue consolidating freedom, democracy, and development in the region."
That same Monday it was confirmed that the Fuerza Popular candidate has surpassed the left-wing contender Roberto Sánchez, who gathered 49.865% of the votes, according to the latest official bulletin from the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) after the scrutiny concluded.
