Lebanon has assured that the Shiite militia Hezbollah has accepted a proposal driven by the United States to end its cross-border attacks. An announcement that comes after Iran's decision to temporarily freeze peace talks with the US until Israel stops its offensive on Lebanon.

Trump assures he prevented an offensive on Beirut

In this regard, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, assured this Monday that he intervened to halt an Israeli military operation that was about to head towards Beirut. Through his social media network Truth Social, Trump explained that he had a phone conversation with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, after which Israel decided to cancel the operation and withdraw the troops that were already on the move.

"There will be no troops going to Beirut; those already on the way will return," the US leader assured.

Trump also maintained that, through intermediaries, an understanding has been reached with Hezbollah to stop attacks from southern Lebanon against Israeli territory.

"Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel," he stated.

A ceasefire to save talks with Iran

The US mediation occurs at a particularly delicate moment for regional diplomacy. The possibility of a new Israeli offensive threatened to derail the preliminary agreement that Washington and Iran have been trying to consolidate for months.

Despite Tehran's warnings, Trump assured that talks with the Islamic Republic continue to advance.

"Talks with the Islamic Republic continue at a rapid pace," the US president noted.
