At least nine people have lost their lives this Wednesday in a new series of bombings by the Russian Army against various areas of Ukraine, according to Ukrainian authorities, who have specified that two of the deceased have been recorded in the capital, Kiev.
The mayor of the city, Vitali Klitschko, has indicated that rescue teams have located two lifeless bodies in a building hit by a Russian projectile in the Darnitski district, where they have also managed to rescue two other people alive.
In his message on social media, Klitschko has added that material damage has also occurred in several points of the Obolonski, Podolski, and Shevchenkivski districts, although at the moment there is no information about possible victims in these areas of the capital.
The attack with the highest number of victims has occurred in the city of Prikuki, in the Chernígov region, in the north of the country, where at least four people have died and 20 have been injured, including three minors, according to a statement released by the State Emergency Service on its official channels.
To these victims are added two other deceased in Kremenchuk, in the central province of Poltava, as reported by the regional governor, Volodimir Diakivnich, who has expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased and has published images of the destruction caused by the Russian bombings.
On the other hand, the mayor of Oleksandria, Serhi Kuzmenko, in the Kirovograd region, has reported the death of one person in an attack on the city, an incident that also leaves three injured and two missing, as well as damage to an "industrial facility," without providing further details.
The Ukrainian Air Force has explained that, in recent hours, Russian forces have launched 130 drones and several ballistic missiles against Ukrainian territory. "The main areas that were targeted in the attack are Kiev, Kharkiv, Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk," it has stated in a statement on social media.
According to this report, air defenses have managed to intercept 44 missiles —39 cruise and five ballistic— and 117 drones, although impacts have been confirmed in 18 locations in the country, in addition to the fall of debris from the interceptions in five other points.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has claimed to have carried out "a massive attack" against Ukraine and has stated that among the targets were "companies of Ukraine's military-industrial complex" in Kiev and other regions, as well as "port and ship repair infrastructure" in Odesa.
The department has added that its air defense systems have destroyed in the last hours 311 Ukrainian drones over various Russian regions and over the waters of the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and the Crimean Peninsula, annexed by Moscow in 2013, a decision that the international community still does not recognize.
