The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has demanded that Israel respect and implement the agreement reached regarding the Gaza Strip, after the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) gave its approval to a plan for progressive disarmament and to transfer the management of its arsenal to a Palestinian technocratic committee, in line with the proposal put forward by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, for the future of the Palestinian territory.
"The Palestinian side and Hamas have expressed their commitment to what was agreed in the 'roadmap' and we expect the Israeli side to fully fulfill its commitments, withdraw from Gaza, and respect International Law," stated the spokesperson for the ministry, Mayid al Ansari, at a press conference in Doha.
In the same intervention, he called on the international community to increase pressure on Israel to "implement the agreement, cease its attacks" and proceed with the withdrawal from the Palestinian enclave. "The mediators emphasize the need to accelerate the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza," he added.
These statements come after Hamas and Islamic Jihad reiterated that their brigades will not hand over their weapons while Israel maintains the bombings over Gaza and does not initiate a withdrawal from the occupied areas within the Palestinian enclave.
Conversely, the Gaza Peace Board has emphasized that Israeli forces will only leave the Strip when Hamas has disarmed "completely" after a "constructive and comprehensive" meeting between its director, the Bulgarian diplomat, Nicolai Mladenov, and the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, held in Jerusalem.
