The Russian Executive has accused Western countries this Thursday of "simulating" interest in opening negotiations on the conflict in Ukraine and has stated that it will no longer grant credibility to any attempt at diplomatic rapprochement. "This goodwill and hope have been completely exhausted," stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov.
"We will no longer trust that the West wants negotiated solutions. This goodwill and hope have been completely exhausted," Lavrov reiterated during a press conference in Maputo, held alongside his Mozambican counterpart, María Manuela dos Santos Lucas, as reported by the TASS agency.
In the same appearance, the head of Russian diplomacy stressed that, while Moscow presented its arguments on the war in Ukraine, Western powers appeared willing to negotiate peace, but, at the same time, several European governments issued "open ultimatums" against Russia and "continue to hypocritically call for a negotiated solution."
