A total of seven information professionals have died as a consequence of the earthquakes registered on June 24 on the coast of Venezuela, a tragedy that, until now, has left almost 3,000 fatalities in the country.

The National Union of Press Workers (SNTP) has confirmed the deaths of José Ángel Rivero, Sinaí Rivas, Oriana Guedez, Lissi Contreras, Javier José Rodríguez, Emilys Sarache, and Adriany Matute, all of them linked to the field of journalism and communication.

In a statement released through its social networks, the union specified that "The search for colleague journalist Mauren Elena Morillo continues, as does that for Ernesto García, Carmen Helena Valdivieso, and Melissa de Sousa Visconti."

The professional organization has deeply lamented these human losses and has sent its condolences to the relatives of the victims. The SNTP has underlined: "We express our condolences and solidarity with their families, friends, and colleagues."

The union has emphasized that it remains by the side of the families of the disappeared persons during the localization and rescue tasks, and has expressed its confidence that the emergency teams will be able to find them as soon as possible.
