During the early hours of this Friday, the Nepal Tourism Board has reported having found one of the three missing Spaniards after the devastating flood that occurred this Wednesday in the north of the country and in several border areas with Tibet. The Nepalese agency has maintained maximum secrecy about the status and essential information of the Spanish national, as in its statement it has not informed either their identity, the location where they were found, or their condition.
From three unlocated Spaniards to two
The consular services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nepal reported this morning that the number of nationals affected by the flood has reduced to three people. Subsequently, the Nepal Tourism Board announced in an official bulletin that it had found one of the Spaniards, although it has not provided a shred of information about the condition of the person found.
On the other hand, two other missing Spaniards remain unaccounted for, according to the information available at the time of publishing this update. Finally, the Nepalese authorities also reported in their official bulletin that they had identified the three cases as Spanish hikers linked to a hiking group, of which there were two women and one man. However, they have not clarified which of these individuals has been found.
The search continues in the affected areas
The search operations are taking place under particularly complicated conditions. The flood has destroyed roads, bridges, and communication networks, while landslides and the accumulation of water after several natural blockages hinder access to the affected towns.
The authorities have temporarily interrupted some work due to the risk of new floods. The toll of victims and missing persons continues to be provisional and is modified as emergency teams access new areas and verify the lists provided by families, travel agencies, and hiking companies.
