The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has claimed to have intervened urgently to stop a supposed Israeli military operation in Beirut, in an attempt to avoid a new escalation on the Lebanese front and protect indirect talks with Iran, which this Monday has broken off talks with Washington until Israel stops attacks on Lebanon.

According to the leader himself on his social network Truth Social, his intervention would have prevented both the deployment of forces towards the Lebanese capital and a military response from the Shiite militia Hezbollah against Israeli territory.

A call with Netanyahu and indirect contacts with Hezbollah

Trump maintains that he had a direct conversation with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, in which it was agreed to stop any operation in Beirut and withdraw units that were supposedly already on the move.

In parallel, the US president claims to have conveyed messages through intermediaries to Hezbollah, with the aim of achieving an immediate reduction of the crossfire in southern Lebanon.

"Talks are continuing at a rapid pace," Trump said, insisting that both sides would have accepted a tacit ceasefire.
