At least two people have lost their lives and four others have been injured by gunfire in a shooting registered during a street festival in the Canadian city of Toronto, according to local police authorities, who are already acting in the area while the person responsible for the shots remains at large.
Emergency services received a call around 8:12 p.m. (local time) this Saturday alerting them to the presence of a supposed active shooter on St. Clair Avenue in the aforementioned city, where an event focused on Latin music and dance was being held at the time.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found six people with gunshot wounds. Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the other four sustained injuries of varying severity.
The Police have cordoned off the area and have urged citizens not to approach the affected area due to the large police presence that remains deployed while investigations continue.
Likewise, they have specified that, for now, no suspect has been arrested and that work is ongoing to identify and locate the perpetrator or perpetrators of the attack.
