The Venezuelan Executive has made a formal request to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the aim of launching concrete social initiatives in housing and education, following the earthquakes of June 24, which have already caused more than 3,300 deaths.
"We have activated the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA), a comprehensive assessment that will identify the needs for the recovery and reconstruction of the country. Likewise, we request the support of the UNDP in order to promote programs in the areas of housing and education, as well as the vocational training and employment program for the affected communities," explained the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, in a statement.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs held a dialogue with the Administrator of the UNDP, Alexander de Croo, to whom he conveyed his recognition for the "willingness" of the international organization to "accompany Venezuela" after the seismic movements.
"We continue to advance with international cooperation, to support the efforts of the National Government in favor of our people and national development," he stressed.
