The Ukrainian Executive has denounced this Friday that Russia is taking advantage of the images of the migration crisis in Ceuta for propaganda purposes, particularly to "stir up fear and destabilize" European states.
The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andri Sibiga, has indicated that they have identified "an intense campaign of Russian propaganda throughout Europe" disseminated through some channels that continue to operate on the continent, including Pravda and RT.
Sibiga has detailed that more than 1,500 informative pieces have been counted in media classified as pro-Russian, especially in these two mentioned channels. "Pravda in Spanish has published almost 300 of them. Each edition of RT in other languages has pushed more than 25 news items on the subject," he pointed out.
"For years, Moscow has used migration and other sensitive issues to stir up fear and destabilize European countries," criticized the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, who emphasized that Russia is always willing to "exploit any issue that may benefit its agenda."
In his opinion, "the only way to protect the public from this interference is to cut it off at the root. All Russian propaganda resources should be completely banned in every European country that takes its national security seriously," Sibiga demanded, in line with Ukraine's repeated requests to restrict the presence of Russian media in European territory.
In recent days, several European Union governments have reacted to the situation in Ceuta, where around 60,000 people have crossed irregularly from Morocco to the Spanish enclave in recent hours, of which approximately half have already been returned, in an episode that has left 57 deceased.
Among the reactions is that of Russia, which interprets what happened as a new demonstration of the European Union's failure in its migration policy, while reproaching Spain for having prioritized the sending of weapons and equipment to Ukraine over investing in the protection of its borders.
