The United States Army has stated this Monday that it has facilitated the passage of more than a thousand ships through the Strait of Hormuz "despite the unjustified Iranian aggression." This deployment occurs alongside a naval blockade on Iranian ports and coasts, under which U.S. forces claim to have diverted 45 merchant vessels, immobilized two, and boarded another two "to ensure compliance" with the operation, while the diplomatic route continues to offer no solution to the confrontation.
"In the last three months, U.S. forces have helped more than 1,000 ships transit successfully through the strait despite the unjustified Iranian aggression, and these transits continue today," indicated the Central Command (CENTCOM) of the U.S. Army in a message disseminated on social media.
In that same communication, CENTCOM emphasized that "the southern route through the Strait of Hormuz remains free and open for all merchant vessels wishing to transit through this international maritime route," despite the numerous explosions and fires recorded on vessels in the area in recent weeks. At the same time, Tehran denies that there is a safe passage through "parallel routes" outside its control.
Alongside these escorts, the U.S. Armed Forces have launched a naval blockade against the Islamic Republic. As part of this operation, CENTCOM has placed the number of diverted merchant vessels at 45, in addition to two immobilized and two more boarded to, as in previous cases, "ensure compliance with the blockade," according to the military command in a prior post on social media.
In the diplomatic arena, the Donald Trump Administration has expressed confidence in reaching an agreement during this same week. Iran, for its part, has limited itself to describing its conversations with the authorities of Oman — a country located on the opposite shore of the Strait of Hormuz — regarding the management of transit through this strategic maritime corridor as "positive."
