The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has lashed out this Saturday against the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, whom he accuses of trying to "whitewash himself, lying and hiding" after the visit to Spain of Leo XIV, something he describes as "grotesque".

In a message published on his X account and reported by Europa Press, Abascal maintains that it is "quite shameful" to receive the Pontiff in a country that, in his opinion, has "a government wallowing in corruption and mafia".

"And it is grotesque how P.S. tries to whitewash himself, lying, and hiding behind the visit," he adds, alluding to the initials that appear on the agenda of former militant Leire Díez, incorporated into the case in which she is being investigated as part of a plot to try to torpedo judicial proceedings against members of the Government, the PSOE or the entourage of the head of the Executive.
