The Air and Space Army is developing this Thursday in Madrid the first major rehearsal of the air parade on October 12, one of the most anticipated moments of the traditional military parade and whose execution requires millimetric coordination among all the involved aircraft.
According to what the Air and Space Army has detailed to Europa Press, 29 aircraft of different types participate in the practice, including fighters, transport planes, and helicopters, organized in 16 formations that reproduce the scheme planned for National Day.
During the test, the planes fly over the sky of the capital following the axis of the ground parade, which usually takes place along the Paseo del Prado and the Paseo de Recoletos. In this device, combat aircraft, military transport planes, aeroevacuation aircraft, and various models of helicopters, among other aerial means, usually intervene.
In last year's edition, the cloud cover over Madrid forced a reduction in the air display, and the public could only see the fighters and Harriers in action, while in 2024 the aircraft also did not fly over the city due to the intense rain that affected the area.
