The Vox spokesperson in the Andalusian Parliament and future vice-president of the Junta, Manuel Gavira, reiterated this Monday that his party will be a "reliable, predictable, and demanding partner" of the PP in the new legislature, further emphasizing that his party already made Juanma Moreno president in 2019 for his first term at the head of the Andalusian Government "and at that time he didn't seem so serious".

Gavira expressed this in an interview on Canal Sur Radio, reported by Europa Press, just one day after Moreno's swearing-in ceremony as president of the Junta, in which he pledged to remain "faithful" to the Andalusian path of dialogue after sealing a pact with Vox, even warning that he expects "a long and fruitful legislature or it won't be".

After admitting that he is "happy" with the agreement reached with the PP, although also with "the responsibility of what is coming", the Andalusian Vox leader pointed out that Moreno "will have to answer" why he does not appear to be as satisfied with the pact that has unblocked the legislature in Andalusia.

"I thank him for the willingness he has shown from day one to lead the negotiations on behalf of the PP that led to this good agreement, and I can understand that he would like to govern alone, and so would I," said Gavira, who recalled that Moreno "became president in 2019 after the December 2018 elections thanks to the support of Vox, and at that time he didn't seem so serious".

In any case, he stressed that what is truly relevant are the 150 measures agreed between PP and Vox "for the benefit of Andalusians" and assured that "it is a matter of time before they see us in action, that we are serious people, he knows we are because his first term was thanks to the support of 12 Vox deputies, and in this case we will be a loyal, reliable, predictable, and demanding partner" in monitoring the fulfillment of the pact.

"We want the Government of Andalusia to be a bastion against 'sanchismo', we are very clear about that, in our opinion, the opposition that the Sánchez government deserves has not been made from Andalusia, but this is another step," Gavira remarked, highlighting that PP and Vox "have a common enemy" although they also "have things that we clearly don't see the same way, that is beyond any doubt and it is also not advisable to deceive people".

"IF THE PP BACKS DOWN AND DOES NOT WANT TO FULFILL THE AGREEMENTS, VOX WILL WALK AWAY"

Asked about whether Vox is now "more reliable" as a partner than when it left regional governments in other communities, the Andalusian leader of Vox recalled that those departures from the executives with the PP were due to a "breach of agreements" and stressed that "the moment the PP backs down, does not want to comply with the signed agreement with Vox, then what it does is leave".

Along these lines, he indicated that in Moreno's first term in Andalusia "a large part" of the pact with Vox "was not fulfilled and I do not forget how Andalusia was left without a budget in the 2022 fiscal year because Mr. Moreno sought the PSOE's abstention for the budgets, I'm not saying it, he said it".

"We have the will to reach an agreement and we said so with an outstretched hand from the night of May 17. Obviously, what we want is for what is subscribed to be fulfilled, and I hope that the PP fulfills what is also subscribed to in 60 pages and 150 measures," he concluded.
