The Vox deputy in the Assembly of Extremadura Juan José García will be the next head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Environment in the Junta de Extremadura representing this party.
It is one of the areas of government that Vox will now lead after the pact reached with the PP to form the regional Executive, an agreement that also includes the incorporation of Óscar Fernández Calle as vice-president and counselor of Deregulation, Social Services and Family.
From Vox they underline that the election of García for the Agriculture portfolio "responds to a profile of high technical qualification, academic experience and deep knowledge of the Extremaduran rural world".
In the previous legislature, Juan José García was a deputy for Vox in the Assembly of Extremadura, where he acted as spokesperson in the commissions of Agriculture, Livestock and Sustainable Development, in addition to chairing the Commission for Forest Management and the Rural World. In the current term, he maintains his seat as a regional parliamentarian.
Born in Atalaya (Badajoz), García holds a degree in Biological Sciences and a doctorate in Sciences from the University of Extremadura, where he obtained the highest academic qualification. Vox emphasizes that he has a "distinguished research and teaching career, with decades of experience in the university field and a solid scientific output at national and international level".
The training adds that his professional activity has focused above all on research and university teaching, with participation in scientific projects, specialized publications and stays abroad, which "has allowed him to acquire a rigorous and technical vision of the challenges linked to the natural environment and resource management".
The future Minister of Agriculture in Extremadura declares himself a hunting enthusiast and "in love with Extremaduran nature".
