The president of the Parliament, Josep Rull, has reiterated that the Supreme Court (TS) "does not administer justice, it makes politics," and has denounced that it acts guided by values that he considers profoundly undemocratic.

In an interview on the program 'Aquí Parlem' on RTVE, he stated that, in his opinion, one must be "optimistic" about the future resolution of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on the Amnesty Law, and added that the Constitutional Court will have very limited room to oppose its application.

"The problem lies with the Supreme Court, which has decided to simply ignore a law approved by the Spanish Parliament. And, therefore, they have entered a territory of rebellion," he pointed out, criticizing the high court's attitude.

Along these lines, he stressed that a "flagrant breach" of current regulations is occurring, which, in his view, should be respected without nuance.

Role of Pedro Sánchez in the legislature

Regarding the situation of the legislature and the role of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, Rull has defended that Spain needs a leader with a profile that fulfills what has been agreed upon and has accused the head of the Executive of being a "compulsive defaulter" in relation to the agreements reached with Junts.

"What we would need is someone with the capacity to fulfill, because fulfilling agreements is perhaps the most virtuous element in any political action," he maintained, insisting on the importance of respecting the commitments made.

Along the same lines, he remarked that Sánchez "is not a virtuous leader because he fails to fulfill commitments," thus reinforcing his criticism of the President of the Government for his way of managing political pacts.
