The Ministry of the Interior has communicated this Sunday that the containment barriers placed this Saturday, August 1, in the area of El Tarajal, in Ceuta, are already "fully operational."

In a note disseminated through its official channels, the department led by Fernando Grande-Marlaska has specified that the Civil Guard is continuously responsible for the protection of these structures through the intermediate navigation channel.

In the same way, it has emphasized that the Armed Institute is also responsible for carrying out the necessary maintenance and conservation tasks to ensure the proper performance of this infrastructure.

The barriers were installed this Saturday in the border area of El Tarajal, where the Civil Guard maintains a permanent deployment of surveillance and control. As detailed this morning by the Government delegate in Ceuta, Miguel Ángel Pérez Triano, the presence of the Security Forces and the Armed Forces has been reinforced to total almost 3,000 personnel between agents and military, who will remain in Ceuta "for as long as necessary."

Regarding the situation in the streets of the autonomous city, the delegate has insisted that at this moment "there are much fewer people than those who entered" and that there have been "many exits," although he has acknowledged that it is complex to provide closed figures.
