The Popular Party has requested the appearance in Congress of the director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, Diego Rubio, to explain the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of the head of communication of the Department of National Security (DSN).
The request has been registered for processing in the Joint Commission of National Security, according to what the Popular Parliamentary Group reported this Tuesday. The popular party links the dismissal to the publication of an alert about the scale of the migration crisis in Ceuta, although the statement does not identify the affected worker.
An alert published and removed from the DSN website
According to the version conveyed by the PP, the dismissal occurred through a phone call last Friday, July 31, after the head of communication published that same morning an alert on the DSN website.
The information, which cited sources from the Ministry of the Interior, initially placed the number of people who had entered Ceuta irregularly at 49,000. The notice was removed shortly after and is no longer listed on the agency's website.
The popular party maintains that that publication represented the first official acknowledgment of the magnitude of the entries recorded in the autonomous city. The PP statement adds that the figure would have subsequently increased to over 60,000 people.

The Popular Group demands that the Executive detail the specific reasons for the dismissal and clarify whether the decision is related to the dissemination of the alert.
The party wonders if the head was dismissed for “doing her job well” and questions whether the Government considered that the information should be kept from the public's knowledge.
The PP also wants to know if the Executive understands that the publication of an alert about events affecting national security can justify the replacement of a communication head.
