Real Madrid has closed the signing of Janou Levels to reinforce the defense of its women's team.
The white club and Wolfsburg have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Dutch international, who is linked to Real Madrid for the next four seasons. The entity has not communicated the price of the operation.
A left-footed full-back with several positions
Levels primarily plays as a left-back, although she can play on the right side and also as a centre-back.
Her profile combines speed, ball-playing ability, and the capacity to join the attack. This versatility allows the coaching staff to use her in a back four or as a wing-back in formations with three centre-backs.
Born on October 30, 2000, she is left-footed and measures 1.62 meters. Her professional career has been linked to three of the most important clubs in the Netherlands and Germany.
From PSV to Wolfsburg
Janou Levels began her professional career in 2018 with PSV Eindhoven.
She remained five seasons at the Dutch club and won the Dutch Cup. In 2023 she moved to Germany to play for Bayer Leverkusen and two years later signed for Wolfsburg.
During her last season, she played 35 games, scored three goals, and provided eight assists, according to data published after the operation was confirmed.
International with the Netherlands
Levels debuted with the Dutch senior team in 2021 after progressing through the youth categories.
Her international experience and knowledge of the Champions League are two of the factors that have influenced Real Madrid's decision. The defender was a starter with Wolfsburg in the European match against the white team last season.
What she brings to Real Madrid
The Dutch player arrives to increase competition at left-back and offer an alternative in several defensive positions.
Her ability to attack spaces, reach the byline, and create chances from the flank fits a team that needs width against opponents who defend deep near their area. Levels also brings experience in one of the most demanding women's leagues in Europe.
The contract until 2030 shows that Real Madrid considers her a long-term signing, not a temporary solution.
