Catalunya World Region of Gastronomy (CRMG25) carried out more than 455 actions in 2025 and achieved the adhesion of 1,887 agents linked to the entire food chain –administrations, companies, producers, restaurateurs, educational centers, and social entities–, as detailed by the Government this Saturday in a statement.
Among the most relevant initiatives of CRMG25 is the project "12 months, 12 landscapes," conceived to promote activities in which the territory and its agri-food landscapes played a central role, as well as "Gastrosàvies," a proposal in which elderly women from different parts of Catalonia shared their culinary knowledge through meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Another of the highlighted actions was the "Som Gastronomia Tour," a national and international projection presentation tour aimed at positioning Catalonia as a benchmark for enogastronomic tourism, with stops in Madrid, Vigo, San Sebastián, Tokyo, Beijing, London, and Mexico, along with the launch of the campaign "Catalonia, the best cuisine in the world."
The program has achieved more than 362 million potential impacts in media outlets around the world and an estimated economic return exceeding 5 million euros.
Memory and international recognition
During 2025, Catalonia obtained the distinction of World Region of Gastronomy awarded by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT). This recognition allowed the deployment of a joint strategy led by the Departments of Business and Labor and of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, in coordination with administrations, economic agents, social entities, knowledge centers, and professionals in the gastronomic field.
According to the project's report, released this Saturday, the designation has represented "a first-class international recognition and has served both to assert the uniqueness of the Catalan gastronomic model and to reinforce its leadership in the field of food culture, sustainability and innovation, and enogastronomic tourism."
