The two-hour strikes per shift promoted by the works council at the Nestlé factory in La Penilla have been repeated this Thursday and have once again had the full support of the staff of the morning shift and split shift, in the same way that has been happening since their start last Friday, May 15.
This is already the third day of two-hour interruptions, which coincide with the negotiation days of the Employment Regulation File (ERE) presented by the company, which contemplates 49 layoffs at the Cantabrian plant. In this context, the committee has formalized today the call for an indefinite general strike starting on June 1 "given the scarce progress in the negotiation."
In a note sent to the media, the Nestlé works council in La Penilla specifies that these hourly strikes will continue on May 27 and 28, coinciding with the fifth and sixth ERE negotiation meetings. These mobilizations will precede the start of the indefinite general strike on June 1 "if the company does not back down on an unjustified and unacceptable ERE in a company that earns a lot of money and in a productive and profitable factory."
The union body of the Cantabrian plant has also called for massive participation in the demonstration called for this Sunday, May 24 "against the ERE and the layoffs," which will start at 11:00 AM at the Sarón football field and will end in front of the gate of the La Penilla factory, where a manifesto will be read.
