The Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit (UDEF) has registered the headquarters of Whathefav this Tuesday, the communication and digital marketing agency linked to Laura and Alba Rodríguez Espinosa, daughters of former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, within the proceedings opened in the National Court for the so-called Plus Ultra case. The company, based in the Madrid district of Tetuán, appears in the spotlight of the investigation for alleged payments related to consultancy and communication contracts under judicial review.

A communication and digital content agency

Whathefav —also referred to as What The Fav— was founded in 2019 and presents itself as an agency specializing in digital marketing, audiovisual production, and communication strategies linked to the digital environment and eSports.

The company is registered as an advertising and public relations firm and has carried out work related to content creation, design, and campaigns for various brands and technological projects.

According to information released this Tuesday, the Police are now seeking commercial documentation, contracts, invoices, and computer devices related to the company's activity and its links with companies investigated in the Plus Ultra case.

The connection with the Plus Ultra investigation

The search is part of the case investigating possible irregularities surrounding the public bailout granted to the airline Plus Ultra during the pandemic.

Investigators are analyzing whether part of the funds and operations linked to the investigated business environment may have been channeled through contracts considered allegedly fictitious or without sufficient justification.

In this context, Whathefav appears to be linked to payments from the consultancy firm Análisis Relevante, also under judicial investigation. Some published reports place these payments between 2020 and 2024 for amounts ranging between 200,000 and 240,000 euros for design, layout, and communication work.

For the moment, the National Court maintains the investigation in the preliminary proceedings phase, and there is no conviction or final judicial ruling on the investigated facts.

Zapatero acknowledged professional contacts

The former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero had previously acknowledged that he suggested the collaboration of his daughters' company with Análisis Relevante, although he denied having received commissions or benefits related to the rescue of Plus Ultra.

The investigations now seek to determine the real scope of these works, the traceability of payments, and whether there was any commercial or administrative irregularity in the operations under investigation.

This Tuesday's search at the headquarters located in the Tetuán neighborhood is part of that evidence gathering driven by the UDEF under judicial supervision.
