The Director General of Agri-food Companies, Quality and Gastronomy of the Generalitat, Joan Gòdia, has announced the launch of the National Pastry Awards, whose first call will take place in 2027, with the aim of "highlighting the excellence of Catalan pastry".

Gòdia made this announcement during this year's edition of Gastrodolç, a meeting that brought together professionals from the bakery and pastry sector, where he advocated for "the trade, the territory, and the culture" linked to the sector, as detailed by the organization in a statement released this Monday.

The purpose of the National Awards is to protect and disseminate Catalan gastronomic heritage and to pay homage to pastry professionals, as well as to give greater visibility to the sector, stimulate new generations, and help promote Catalan pastry.

Gastrodolç 2026 took place in Flix (Tarragona) and was attended by referents such as Oriol Balaguer, Xecma Misut, Rafel Muria, Roger Canela, Àlex Lera, Pau Carranza, or Llorenç Peral.

During the meeting, attendees highlighted "a trade in danger of extinction", especially in the field of artisan pastry shops.
