The staff of Iberconsa, a Vigo-based company specializing in the processing and distribution of frozen seafood products, gathered this Monday outside the company's facilities to demand a specific agreement that improves the labor conditions set by the state sector agreement.
As stated in a press release by the CIG, the union holding the presidency of the works council, the workers' assembly held last Wednesday agreed to initiate a schedule of protests after learning of the management's refusal to open a table to negotiate a specific agreement and various improvements on the state agreement for processed seafood, especially concerning salaries.
As the employees denounce, the company has repeatedly rejected all proposals put forward by the social party, limiting itself to applying the state agreement, "without taking into account that it includes very low salaries."
Despite this stance, the union representation maintains its demands, which include the payment of a third extraordinary bonus, a monthly increase of 40 euros for category 2, or the extension of the hardship bonus to all personnel who access the cold room, among other measures. "In short, what we are proposing are a series of possibilities that allow for salary increases," they emphasize from the union.
