The president of CHA, Jorge Pueyo, has said this Sunday that the recent demonstrations by Vox leader Santiago Abascal in defense of the interconnection between river basins once again make clear that "the threat of a new transfer of the Ebro remains in force".
As he has denounced, "once again, the interests of Aragon and its ability to decide about its own resources are being questioned, placing the water of our territory at the center of negotiations and the political interests of Vox and its partners in the PP".
Pueyo has emphasized that "the water of the Ebro cannot be turned into a political bargaining chip to ensure that the PP gets or maintains power, neither in Madrid nor in Aragon".
From CHA they have underlined that "a new transfer of the Ebro would have deeply negative territorial, environmental and economic consequences for Aragon" because "it would mean compromising our ecosystems, conditioning our future, and putting at risk a territorial development model that must guarantee the sustainable use of our own resources, in the face of decisions imposed from outside that would be irreversible".
Along these lines, Pueyo has recalled that "Vox and its PP partner want to return to the policy of the transfer and of concrete, a policy that Aragonese society already rejected and to which it will say no again".
