The PP spokesperson in the Cortes of Aragon, Ana Marín, has announced that the Popular Parliamentary Group will register an initiative to censure the socialist deputy Jorge Pastor for "lying" in relation to the air conditioning of the Pignatelli Building, refusing to rectify in the Plenary session and not apologizing for his statements.
"Pastor lied and it was not simple demagoguery, it was using children, trying to confuse families and all for his own benefit. This is intolerable, the PSOE, mired in corruption schemes, has made lying a political tool and here, in these Cortes of Aragon, we will not allow it," Ana Marín stated this Thursday at a press conference.
The 'popular' representative stressed that there is "documentary and legal reality that incontestably dismantles the narrative that the PSOE of Aragon has tried to construct."
As she recalled, in the Order of the Minister of Finance and Public Administration of March 20, 2023, it was established that it was the previous regional Executive, headed by the PSOE, who gave the green light to the start of the contracting process to draft the project and execute the energy and functional rehabilitation works of the Pignatelli Building.
Subsequently, by Order of June 1, 2023, the socialist Government itself approved both the expenditure and the contracting process, with financing from the European Next Generation funds. Furthermore, the Agreement of the Government Council of Aragon of May 26, 2023, expressly authorized the expenditure and its multi-year distribution.
"According to the line of argument maintained by Mr. Pastor, it was the PSOE, it was his party, who decided to install air conditioning in the Pignatelli offices instead of in the schools. That is cheap demagoguery," Ana Marín lamented.
In view of these precedents and that Pastor has refused to rectify and apologize, the PP spokesperson in the regional Parliament has indicated that her group will bring the censure of the socialist deputy to the Plenary session of the Cortes. At the same time, it is intended to censure his refusal to correct these statements despite the official documentation that, according to the PP, shows that the contracting process, the approval of expenditure, and the award of the works were agreed upon by the socialist Government presided over by Javier Lambán.
Accusations of partisan use of education
Along these same lines, the 'popular' leader has criticized the attitude of Jorge Pastor, whom she has described as a "favored student of Pilar Alegría," reproaching him for trying to use education for partisan purposes, regardless of the issue being debated.
Marín has also expressed her surprise at the PSOE's rejection of an amendment presented this Thursday to urge the Government of Aragon to assess the advisability of having specific regulations with clear protocols for action that govern the development of complementary and extracurricular activities —including those carried out outside the center and abroad— in which teachers participate.
For the PP, this stance shows that the PSOE opts to "lie, muddy the waters, and use the educational community" instead of seeking consensus and advancing in the improvement of the system.
