The plenary session of the Parliament has approved a censure of the Minister of the Interior of the Generalitat, Núria Parlon, and the Director General of the Mossos d'Esquadra, Josep Lluís Trapero, following the infiltration of two agents into a teachers' assembly, and has also called for both to be dismissed from their positions.

The initiative, promoted by the CUP, proposed the censure and dismissal of Parlon and was approved with the favorable votes of Junts, ERC, and the CUP; Vox, Comuns, and Aliança Catalana (AC) abstained, while PSC and PP voted against.

Regarding Trapero, the request to censure him and demand his dismissal was supported by Junts, ERC, Comuns, and CUP, rejected by PSC and PP, and abstained by Vox and AC.

The motion registered by the 'cupaires' also included the demand to dismiss the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Esther Niubó, if she does not immediately reach an agreement with the educational community and the main unions in the sector.

In this section, Junts, ERC, and CUP voted in favor, PSC and PP voted against, and Vox, Comuns, and AC opted for abstention.

However, the Chamber has rejected definitively suppressing the measure from the Departments of Education and Interior that foresees the immediate entry of Mossos d'Esquadra into educational centers.

During the vote, it became clear that 13 out of the 14 educational centers where the Government has announced the presence of Mossos d'Esquadra have requested that this measure be withdrawn.

Rejection of police infiltration

The motion also urged the Parliament to note that the infiltration of Catalan police agents into a teachers' union assembly constitutes "a serious violation of fundamental rights."

Likewise, a point has been approved that calls for prohibiting the infiltration of mossos into social movements, associations, collectives, or unions that do not have the required judicial authorization.

Debate on Montserrat and protests

The part of the motion that attributed to Parlon and Trapero having "lied" in Parliament regarding the events related to the independence mobilizations in Montserrat against the monarchy, which ended with the arrest of one of the participants, has not been approved.

Nor has it been approved to urge the Government to rectify the statements of the Minister of the Interior and the director general of the Catalan police on these events and on the police actions during the strike in support of Palestine.

Accusations of "undemocratic drift"

CUP deputy Xavier Pellicer has accused the Ministry of the Interior of promoting an "undemocratic drift against social organization and mobilization", and has maintained that the Mossos d'Esquadra are acting by violating rights and engaging in malpractice; for this reason, he has defended the dismissal of Parlon and Trapero.

From Junts, Sònia Martínez has demanded that Parlon and Trapero assume political responsibilities and has added that Niubó cannot evade them either. She has reproached the Minister of Education for not appearing before the Commission to give explanations and has criticized the lack of dialogue with the educational community in daily management: "This silence is also a response and is very eloquent."

For ERC, deputy Laia Cañigueral has demanded political responsibilities, recalling that they had already warned Parlon that she should lead and correct the course that the Mossos d'Esquadra corps was taking: "And they minimized the facts," she lamented.

Andrés García Berrio (Comuns) has described the infiltration of Mossos into a teachers' assembly as intolerable and a serious violation of rights, and has urged the Government to make a 180-degree turn "regarding the guarantee of the right to protest", although he has remarked that Parlon acknowledged the error and apologized.

Criticism from PP, Vox, AC and defense from PSC

PP deputy Alberto Vilagrasa has maintained that no fundamental right was violated with the infiltration of Mossos into the teachers' assembly because "they met freely", although he has described the operation as a "botch" and has pointed out to Parlon that, in his opinion, there were other ways to obtain information.

Vox deputy Alberto Tarradas has expressed his support for demanding the resignation of Parlón, Niubó, and Trapero, but has added: "Vox will not vote for or ever be on the side of people like the CUP, who use violence in the streets to promote their ideas," and has also defined the infiltration of Mossos into teachers' assemblies as a botch.

Sílvia Orriols (AC) has considered that the infiltration constitutes an inadmissible political maneuver, but has ironized: "There is half the PSOE infiltrated within the UGT and within CC.OO., and half the CUP infiltrated within the Intersindical and I don't see that bothering them", and has defended the presence of Mossos in schools.

The PSC-Units deputy Christian Soriano has assured that the CUP's motion "starts from a false premise which is that the Mossos d'Esquadra come to limit fundamental rights and to repress recurrently", has criticized that dismissals are demanded instead of proposing solutions and has highlighted that the Government is working to prevent a situation like the infiltration in the teaching assembly from being repeated.
