The Attorney General of the State, Teresa Peramato, plans to submit to the Government the proposal for the appointment of seven new officials within the Public Prosecutor's Office, including several prosecutors assigned to the Constitutional Court, the Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office, and the Tax Inspection.
According to the information provided by the Attorney General's Office in a press release, this same package of appointments also includes the proposal for four new heads for the provincial prosecutor's offices of Madrid, Málaga, Tarragona, and Lugo.
For the Tax Inspection, a unit dependent on the Attorney General's Office, María del Milagro Martínez-Pardo has been proposed. Peramato has highlighted "the extensive professional experience" of Martínez-Pardo, as well as "the performance of her duties with full effectiveness and responsibility."
In the case of the Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office, the chosen one by Peramato is María José Martínez, who joined this prosecutor's office in 2023 and has since acted as the contact point in coordinating Spain's fifth evaluation by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
Both prosecutors, Martínez and Martínez-Pardo, had already been carrying out their work in these same units, where they were assigned on a secondment basis, and now they are consolidating their positions in a stable manner, according to prosecutorial sources.
Regarding the Constitutional Court, the Attorney General has opted for Ana Belén Alonso, who "currently provides services in the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Madrid, where she serves as a liaison with the Prosecutor's Office before the Constitutional Court," which is why Peramato has emphasized "her deep knowledge of the functioning."
As for the heads of the provincial prosecutor's offices, the highest authority of the Public Prosecutor's Office proposes José Luis García-Juanes for Madrid, Fernando Germán Benítez for Málaga, María Cinta López for Tarragona, and María Olga Serrano for Lugo.
