The Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Senate will request this Thursday at the meeting of the Upper House's Board that the institution appear in the case opened for the alleged undue access to the computer data of parliamentarians and advisors.

The request comes after it became known that an investigating court has opened an investigation into the alleged improper access by two Senate IT workers to private data and content of members of the Chamber. The case was opened on April 15 following a complaint filed by the Prosecutor's Office.

In May 2025, the Senate Board agreed to the dismissal of two IT specialists after verifying unauthorized access to parliamentarians' equipment and referred the case to the Prosecutor's Office at the request of the PSOE. However, subsequently, the Presidency of the Senate tried to downplay the scope of the events and even refused to open an external investigation, as requested by the Socialist Group to determine the extent of the infiltration.

Therefore, the Socialist Group demands of the PP in the Senate's Board of Directors "that this time it acts with transparency, agility, and loyalty, and does not hinder the investigation of this possible case of computer espionage".
