The president of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, has conveyed this Tuesday to King Felipe VI his concern about the current regional financing model, which in his opinion "harms" Aragon, as well as the debt forgiveness designed "as a tailor-made suit for certain communities".
Azcón made these statements to the media after the audience held with the monarch at the Zarzuela Palace, where he reiterated that he is "concerned that a debt forgiveness -- still in parliamentary processing -- is being proposed as a tailor-made suit for certain autonomous communities".
The head of the Aragonese Executive explained that he has conveyed to Felipe VI the concerns of the regional government regarding the "grievances" that, in his opinion, the financing system causes and which "harms the characteristics of Aragon".
In this regard, he recalled that "Aragon is a depopulated autonomous community where providing public services in each and every one of the towns has a higher cost than in other communities", which fuels his discontent with a resource model that, instead of guaranteeing equality, "is designed for political issues related to the government's dependence on nationalist parties".
The King, aligned with Aragonese concerns
According to Azcón, the King "shares the concerns of the Aragonese people" about the provision of public services, the development of housing policies, and other actions that "fundamentally solve" the problems of young people.
Azcón added that Felipe VI has conveyed to him "his willingness" to continue visiting Aragon, something with which he has shown himself to be "delighted", and has advanced that they have discussed the option of organizing a visit to the monastery of Santa María del Poblet (Tarragona).
To conclude, the 'popular' leader has called on the communities that made up the historic Crown of Aragon -- Aragon, Catalonia, Valencia, and the Balearic Islands -- to "unite ties" and "distance disagreements".
