The president of the Junta de Extremadura, María Guardiola, has informed the Presidency of the Assembly of the "exceptional" circumstances that, in her opinion, concur this year for the celebration of the Debate on the State of the Region, after the early elections last December.
The highest official of the regional Executive has formally addressed the Presidency of the regional Chamber to present her arguments regarding the advisability of holding said debate on this occasion, so that the competent parliamentary body may adopt the decision on its convening.
According to the Junta de Extremadura, this year there are circumstances that "distort" the "original meaning" of this debate, something that has been conveyed to the Presidency of the Assembly "within full respect for its prerogatives," with the aim that the regional Chamber resolve in this regard, according to regional Executive sources told Europa Press.
In this context, the Extremaduran Government recalls that the Assembly's Regulations exclude the holding of this debate in an election year, and maintains that "this provision responds to the logic that it would be an analysis of the action of a government that is about to go to the polls or has just been constituted after them."
Likewise, the Presidency of the Assembly has requested the preparation of a legal report to study the situation "from a regulatory perspective," a document that, once completed, will be sent to the different parliamentary groups for their knowledge and assessment.
