The month of April will end with storms in large areas of the Peninsula, accompanied by strong gusts of wind, while the beginning of May will be marked by instability, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

Temperatures will drop in a large part of the territory and the month will conclude with values more typical of this time of year, after several warm episodes, as pointed out by the spokesperson for AEMET, Rubén del Campo.

Wednesday presents with storms in many parts of the Peninsula, which locally could be very strong and be accompanied by hail and intense wind gusts, except in the eastern third and Balearic Islands. These storms could cause some local flooding.

Storms in wide areas and temperature drop

Precipitation will affect areas of Galicia, Castilla y León, Basque Country, Aragon, Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, Community of Madrid, and eastern Andalusia, without ruling out its extension to nearby areas.

In parallel, temperatures will drop on the Peninsula, except in the southeast, where they will rise. Madrid will register around 19 or 20 degrees, Seville will reach 25 degrees and Murcia will reach 28, the same values forecast in Lleida.

Thursday will be a generally more stable day, although in the early morning the previous day's storms will continue, especially in the north, where they may be accompanied by showers.

Throughout Thursday, the skies will tend to clear, although in the afternoon, developing clouds will form in mountainous areas of the north and east, where locally strong showers may be recorded.

That day temperatures will rise in most of the country. Murcia will once again be one of the warmest capitals, with 28 degrees, while Zaragoza and Lleida will reach between 26 and 27 degrees.

On Friday, May 1, instability will be concentrated in the eastern half of the peninsula and in the Cantabrian area. Showers are expected, especially in the afternoon, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms and be locally strong, even with hail and intense wind gusts.

The areas with the highest probability of these phenomena will be the surroundings of the Pyrenees, Teruel, the Valencian Community, the east of Castilla-La Mancha, and the interior of Murcia. In the rest of the country, skies will be mostly clear or with developing clouds.

Weekend with rain in the north

Heading into the weekend, instability is most likely to continue, with rains and showers that will affect the north of the peninsula above all and that could be locally strong, accompanied by storms, hail, and very strong gusts of wind.

The most stable weather will be in Extremadura and western Andalusia, where, if precipitation occurs, it will be more scattered and occasional.

Temperatures will drop on Saturday, although they will remain at values typical for the season, with no cold weather expected.

In the Canary Islands, during the rest of the week there will be cloudy intervals, with the possibility of weak and scattered rains in the north of the more mountainous islands, without ruling out precipitation in other inland and eastern points.

Temperatures will remain mild, with no major changes, with lows between 17 and 19 degrees and highs between 22 and 25 degrees in coastal areas.
