The delegate of the Generalitat in Barcelona, Pilar Díaz, assured this Friday that around 60% of the evacuated residents in the Putxet neighborhood of Barcelona due to the sinkhole linked to the works of the L9 of the Metro will be able to return to their homes in approximately 2 weeks.
She indicated this in statements to the media, accompanied by the general director of Mobility Infrastructure of the Generalitat, Ramon Ramírez. Díaz detailed that next week the return of the neighbors from a third block of the 8 that were evacuated will be authorized, and that, in the following week, the residents of a fourth property will be able to do so.
The first to return, although Díaz did not specify the exact day, will be the neighbors of number 6 on Rubinstein Street, where there are 11 homes and 4 commercial premises. Subsequently, the return of the occupants of number 54 on Sant Gervasi de Cassoles Street, with 31 homes and one premises, will be allowed.
These properties add to the 2 buildings on the same Sant Gervasi de Cassoles Street, numbers 56 and 58, whose neighbors were already able to return to their homes last week. After these reintegrations, the return of residents from another 4 properties affected by the eviction will remain pending.
Díaz emphasized that, for now, it is not possible to specify a date for the return of the remaining 40% of the homes, as "We must continue with the actions and the inspection and monitoring work."
Economic support and measures for families and businesses
The Govern has launched economic advances so that families can face the extraordinary expenses derived from the eviction, and Díaz indicated that during this week individual attention has been given to the families who have requested this aid, "which are the vast majority."
She added that the credit line from the Institut Català de Finances (ICF) aimed at supporting the businesses affected by the situation is already operational.
In addition, she announced that next week a specific device will be activated to work, together with the Department of Territory, with tenants who want to temporarily suspend the payment of rent: "To be able to carry out this management in the fastest and most practical way."
"Cautious optimism" after technical inspections
For his part, Ramon Ramírez pointed out that the monitoring data of the buildings and the technical reviews carried out so far are favorable: "We continue with a cautious optimism."
Questioned about the appearance of cracks in the buildings, he specified that all the homes are being inspected and that "any crack produced by the work will be borne by the work itself."
