The political acts will once again share prominence with the Offering to the Apostle in the celebration of the National Day of Galicia. In Santiago de Compostela, the focus of the day will again be the traditional march of the BNG, which will traverse the streets of the urban area from 12:00 hours. At the same time, the PSdeG will link its usual tribute to Alfonso Daniel Rodríguez Castelao in Rianxo with Buenos Aires, a city where the secretary general, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, is on an official trip.
In parallel, the PPdeG has set its main event for this Thursday at the Miradoiro de Bocarribeira, in Ourense, where they are finalizing a "symbolic" meeting with which they intend to claim "the Galicia of yes".
Additionally, the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, will attend the Offering to the Apostle and, on the eve, on the 24th, will preside over the presentation of the Gold Medals of Galicia. On this occasion, the award distinguishes the Galician community abroad, with recognitions to the businesswoman and honorary vice-consul of Spain in Mar del Plata Claudia Álvarez; to the prosecutor in Switzerland Beatriz Gil; to the journalist Carla Angola; and to Camila Fernández, dentist in Brazil.
"Sovereignty and rights in a world at peace"
For another year, the BNG will call for the 'Day of the Homeland' demonstration in Santiago, which in this edition will be articulated under the slogan "We are a nation, sovereignty and rights in a world at peace".
The march will depart at 12:00 hours from the Alameda of Compostela and will conclude at the Praza da Quintana, where a political act will be held in which the secretary general of Galiza Nova, Artai Gavilanes, and the national spokesperson of the Bloc, Ana Pontón, will speak.
During this day, the nationalists will focus their speech on the demand for sovereignty and rights "in a world at peace", in addition to insisting on the idea that Galicia "is a nation" in the face of the "reactionary Spanishist wave that is being experienced".
"It is the time to clearly affirm that Galicia is a nation. We want sovereignty and rights in a world at peace, against an international context characterized by bellicism and militarism," the organizers have pointed out.
PSdeG: Rianxo-Buenos Aires connection
The PSdeG will repeat in the Coruña municipality of Rianxo its traditional offering to Castelao in front of the statue of the Galician intellectual located in his hometown.
The general secretary, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, will not physically attend the event, as he will intervene telematically from Buenos Aires, where he remains this week on a trip with a schedule of meetings with progressive representatives and with Galician groups in the diaspora.
With this gesture, the Galician socialists seek to underline the link between the birthplace of Castelao and the city "from which he kept alive the hope of a democratic Galicia."
The PPdeG chooses Ourense
For its part, the PPdeG will hold a "symbolic" event this Thursday at the Mirador de Bocarribeira, in Ourense, with the aim of highlighting "the Galicia of yes, the Galicia that works and the unity" that, they point out, "characterizes the vast majority of Galicians."
Popular sources consulted by Europa Press explain that they will meet to commemorate the Day of Galicia and to "continue walking with commitment, work, dedication, and 'common sense' for the Galicia of the future."
The president of the PPdeG, Alfonso Rueda, will lead the meeting, which will also include the general secretary, Paula Prado; the provincial president of the PP of Ourense, Luis Menor; and the head of Culture, Language, and Youth of the regional government, José López Campos.
Other organizations
Regarding other formations, Sumar Galicia has brought forward its commemoration of the National Day of Galicia to July 22, with a tribute to Luz Pozo Garza at the Circo de Artesáns in A Coruña.
On the occasion of this date, the organization led by Paulo Carlos López emphasizes the defense of "plurinationality, self-government, and democracy." "The best way to defend Galicia is to defend the progressive majorities and the State Government," it points out.
In the case of Anova, sources from the organization led by the former mayor of Santiago Martiño Noriega indicate that they have accepted the invitation from the BNG to join the demonstration in Compostela, where they will attend without their own banner and with the membership integrated individually.
Likewise, Anova will carry out a floral offering at 1:45 PM at the statue of Ánxel Casal, in front of the public library that bears his name. There they will lay a wreath dedicated to María Miramontes and to Ánxel Casal himself, and Noriega will make a brief intervention.
