Adif has formalized a contract valued at 32.7 million euros for the next four years, intended for the maintenance of the latest generation systems and equipment, both 'hardware' and 'software', installed in its Traffic Regulation Centers (CRC), responsible for managing high-speed train traffic remotely and in real-time.

The public entity has indicated that this new contract will replace the one currently in force once it concludes, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of the specialized technical teams and resources necessary to face the great scope and technological complexity of these tasks, as well as to preserve the operability and reliability of systems and facilities considered strategic for the functioning of the railway network.

The planned tasks range from preventive and planned maintenance to the updating and renovation of systems and equipment, also incorporating corrective maintenance and attention to possible incidents in the facilities of the centers located in Madrid (Atocha, Delicias and Villaverde), Antequera (Málaga), Albacete and Zaragoza.

Adif has recalled that it currently directs rail traffic from 19 Traffic Regulation Centers that operate uninterruptedly 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, using "high-tech" tools such as Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) and the Da Vinci railway traffic management integration platform.

In this regard, the entity has explained that Centralized Traffic Control functions as the true brain of these facilities, by remotely supervising the interlockings that manage the signaling and switches of the railway network remotely and in real-time, configuring safe routes for traffic.

On the other hand, the 'software' Da Vinci, developed by Adif, concentrates in a single traffic management workstation the information coming from different railway management systems, such as CTC, energy and communications remote control, or passenger information system.

This administrative procedure, the entity has specified, is added to the contracts that the company maintains permanently to guarantee the conservation of all the facilities, infrastructure, tracks, telecommunications, and electrification, both on metric and conventional gauge lines and on high-speed lines.

Adif has finally emphasized that this investment and action on technological control systems aligns with SDG number 9, aimed at promoting reliable, sustainable, and quality infrastructure, as well as with 7 (sustainability) and 8 (economic growth and job creation).
