The Basque company Minersa (Minerales y Productos Derivados) has reported the death of its president and CEO, Alberto Barrenechea Guimón, who died at the age of 82.

As the company itself communicated to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) this Friday, Barrenechea had been part of Minersa's board of directors since 1993 and had held the presidency since 2010.

In the note sent to the stock market supervisor, the firm emphasizes that Barrenechea has "led the consolidation and growth" of Minersa's business project over these decades.

Likewise, the company has stressed that the board of directors and all the staff "deeply regret the loss of the president of Minersa and join in the grief of his family and friends".
