The European Commission indicated this Thursday that the energy authorities of the bloc are already organizing in anticipation of the possible effect of the solar eclipse expected for next week on the European electrical system. To this end, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E, for its acronym in English) will carry out, together with the national operators, a specific assessment of the situation and will coordinate the necessary measures.
"The European Network of Transmission System Operators will hold a meeting tomorrow to coordinate with the national operators and prepare for the impacts of the solar eclipse next Wednesday," explained the Energy spokesperson of the community executive, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, during the daily press conference of the institution.
However, the community representative has refused to anticipate what specific consequences the astronomical phenomenon could bring about on the electrical grid and has asked to wait for the analysis that the European system managers will prepare after the coordination meeting scheduled for this Friday.
"We must wait for their report and their assessment of the situation. In any case, this shows that we take all these factors into account when we plan and evaluate the possible effects of different weather phenomena," she concluded.
